Tribes

Traditional symbols have deeply influenced Aaron's interpretation of tribes across Australia, serving as a profound visual language that connects history, culture, and identity. These symbols reveal the overlaps, synergies, and similarities shared among different tribes, highlighting the threads that weave together their shared heritage. Yet, despite these connections, each tribe preserves its own distinctive beauty, individuality, and cultural nuances that set it apart. By delving into the richness of these differences, we gain a deeper understanding of the unique stories and perspectives that each tribe holds. The negative space shown in the upper right corner of the piece is a tribute to the stolen generations and displaced people who have no tribe to claim or country to call theirs. Often pushed to the side and forgotten amongst the vibrancy and belonging of those with claim, the missing circle depicts the harsh reality of this loss. This exploration not only broadens our appreciation of cultural diversity but also uncovers powerful lessons about unity within diversity, reminding us of the strength and wisdom that come from embracing our shared connections while honoring what makes us unique.
